Richard McCrae is a Chartered Engineer with over 27 years of experience in Consulting Engineering. He established McCrae Consulting Engineers in 2011 and has since grown it into a respected medium-sized consultancy known for delivering tailored engineering solutions to its clients.

Prior to founding McCrae Consulting Engineers, Richard spent more than 13 years at the renowned consultancy LeeMcCullough Consulting Engineers, where he progressed to the role of Associate. In 2020, McCrae Consulting Engineers merged with LMC Consulting Engineers, a firm founded by several former Associates and Directors of LeeMcCullough.

Throughout his career, Richard has led the structural design of numerous high-profile projects, including Phase 2 of DIT Aungier Street and the refurbishment and extension of the Shackleton Museum in Athy’s historic former town hall. He is the current Chairperson of Engineers Ireland’s Structures and Construction Division committee and he specialises in Fire, Civil, and Structural Engineering design.

Norman graduated from the University of Ulster in 1994 and joined Lee McCullough in 1997. He was promoted to Associate in 2002 and achieved Chartered Engineer status in 2010. In 2012, he completed a Postgraduate Diploma in Safety, Health and Welfare at Trinity College Dublin.

Following the 2012 restructuring of Lee McCullough into LMC Consulting Engineers, Norman was appointed Practice Director and went on to successfully lead the merger with McCrae Consulting Engineers in 2020. He now continues to serve as a Director of the merged firm.

Throughout his career, Norman has led a diverse portfolio of projects across the office, retail, educational, and residential sectors. Notable projects include the development of a 5 storey over double basement office building at 70 St Stephen’s Green and has continued involvement with both the Ilac and Dun Laoghaire shopping centres.

Nial joined McCrae Consulting Engineers in 2017 as a senior Structural Engineer. His work portfolio includes residential, commercial, industrial, educational and listed building restoration for both private and semi-state clients.

He has worked on a number of landmark projects developed in Dublin during the last two decades including the National Gallery Millennium wing, TCD Lecky Library, Dundrum Town Centre, Elm Park and a number of the DDDA Projects. While having spent several years in a consultancy environment, his wealth of site based experience means he also brings a practical ‘ground-up’ perspective to his design work.

This experience allows us to tap an extensive fountain of knowledge that has been gained over many years in the construction industry. He is highly skilled in steel detailing, RC detailing and the production of GA drawings for all types of Civil and Structural Engineering projects.

Alby is a Structural Engineer with over five years of experience in Civil and Structural Engineering across Ireland and India. Her expertise includes structural analysis, design, modelling, design review, tender documentation, and site support for a wide range of projects, including public buildings, modular schools, extensions, drainage networks, and retrofit development. She joined McCrae Consulting Engineers in 2024 as Junior Engineer and quickly proved herself worthy of a promotion.

Alby has played a key role in the delivery of several notable projects, such as Galway City Museum, Blanco Nino and Grange Road Housing Development. She has a strong working knowledge of Irish Standards, Eurocodes, and Indian Standards, with hands-on experience in reinforced concrete and steel design, structural software, Revit/BIM coordination, and multidisciplinary collaboration.

Manolya has been with McCrae Engineering Consultants since 2024.  She is a BIM Manager with over 5 years of experience in providing architectural solutions for individual and commercial projects. Before relocating to Dublin, she worked with prestigious firms Giza Architectural Project Office and Doruk Architectural Project Office in Turkey. She was responsible for leading a variety of projects with a strong focus on meeting clients’ needs and successful outcomes in the process.

She is highly experienced in advanced architectural software including Revit, Autocad, Adobe Design and Sketch Up and committed to continuously learning in the role. She is due to complete a Post Graduate Diploma in Applied Building Information Modelling and Management at the end of 2026.

Sam joined McCrae Consulting Engineers as a Structural CAD Technician in January 2023. Since joining the practice, he has contributed to a number of high-profile projects, including the Shackleton Museum, Galway City Museum, and the Pembroke Lane Apartments development. He hails from the Philippines where he worked as an Architect. The general construction regulations and practices in the Philippines are very different to Ireland and he has quickly developed a strong understanding of the regulations and practices applicable in Ireland.

In 2026, Sam further enhanced his professional qualifications by completing a Diploma in Fire Safety Practice at Trinity College Dublin.

Katy is our Practice Manager and has been with the company since 2025. She is responsible for the non-technical functions of the business, ensuring the smooth running of all operational and administrative functions. This includes accounts, marketing, bid and tender documentation.

Drawing on her background in finance and marketing, Katy plays a key role in supporting the continued growth and success of the practice.
