Junior Structural Engineer

The successful candidate will have the opportunity to work on a broad variety of projects for both public and private clients. Our existing project mix is very diversified and includes anything from small extension to multimillion developments. The candidate will have the opportunity to undertake all aspects of design on the projects they work on including carrying out inspections on site. For the correct candidate, this will be a both a design role and a client facing role. Where necessary they will also be responsible for co-ordinating the activities of draftspersons and junior Engineers.

You will be required to work on a range of projects, including Commercial, Retail, Hotel, Residential, Educational and Industrial throughout the country. The successful Structural Engineer will be responsible for working as part of a team whilst liaising with Clients, Contractors and Design Teams. Reporting to a Director or Senior Engineer, the candidate’s duties will include carrying our designs, inspections, liaising with design team members and contractors.

Requirements:

  • Minimum of 3 years post graduate experience in a consultancy role.
  • A degree in Civil/Structural Engineering (level 8 or higher).
  • Engineers Ireland membership with an ambition to achieve Chartered Engineers status.
  • Good communication skills, especially the ability to translate designs in to comprehensive drawing/information for construction.
  • Experience of reinforced concrete design, structural steel, timber and masonry using the Eurocodes.
  • Experience of design of sustainable urban drainage systems and general building drainage systems. from contractors.
  • Demonstrable knowledge of the relevant Technical Guidance Documents.
  • Should demonstrate a level of responsibility taken on projects from detailed design through to inspection of work on site.
  • Demonstrate an ability to be proactive to the ever-changing scenarios experienced in modern construction.
  • Ability to work independently, take responsibility for their own work and take the initiative when necessary.
  • Excellent analytical and numerical skills and attention to detail.
  • Competent in AutoCAD skills essential and experience of using Revit would be an advantage. Practical knowledge of Microsoft Office and structural design and analysis software packages.

  • Undertaking the structural engineering design on projects and reporting to a senior engineer or director.

  • The production of clear and comprehensive drawings, reports, calculations and specifications.
  • Ability to work independently, take responsibility for their own work and take the initiative when necessary.
  • Construction monitoring and reporting.
  • Carry out inspections of works on site and preparation of inspection reports.
